Dr. Karthikeyan is an experienced neurologist with a decade of expertise in diagnosing and treating complex neurological conditions. He completed his undergraduate medical training at Rajiv Gandhi University, followed by an MD in Internal Medicine from Meenakshi University. He then pursued a DM in Neurology at Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai, where he was awarded a Gold Medal, and further honed his skills with a fellowship in Interventional Neurology at MAX Hospital. Dr. Karthikeyan specializes in endovascular revascularization procedures, including percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stent placement in the carotid, vertebral, and intracranial vessels. He is also proficient in acute stroke interventions, such as mechanical thrombectomy, utilizing advanced devices like stent retrievers and the Penumbra device in conjunction with thrombolytic therapy. His expertise extends to a wide range of interventional neurological procedures, including the treatment and management of intracranial aneurysms through techniques such as detachable coils, balloon remodeling, stent-assisted embolization, and flow diverter placement. Additionally, he is skilled in managing cerebral arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, as well as performing endovascular treatments for dural arteriovenous malformations through arterial or venous routes. Dr. Karthikeyan also has extensive experience in spinal interventions, including spinal angiography, AVM embolization, and tumor embolization, along with treating cerebral vasospasm using vasodilators and angioplasty. Furthermore, he is adept at embolization procedures for carotid cavernous fistulas and tumors in the head and neck region.
